AMH TEST

The AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) test is for women who want to be able to accurately assess their ovarian function, particularly if they’ve been trying to conceive for over 6 months.

Also, if they are thinking of having fertility treatment, including egg freezing, suffer from irregular periods, including PCOS, before cancer treatment or suspicion of premature ovarian insufficiency.

Why an AMH Test?

As we age, our ability to produce eggs reduces, and our ovarian reserve can drop significantly after the age of 30.

As the test is based on ovarian function, it can be performed at any time during the menstrual cycle. Try to avoid performing the test whilst using hormonal contraception, as this can affect the test results. For more information on how each contraception affects AMH, get in touch.

What does an AMH test do?

The test identifies the level of Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) in the blood. This, in turn, indicates the ovarian reserve or remaining egg supply in your body.

How is an AMH test performed?

A small amount of blood is required to run the test; normally, a finger prick is enough. The blood is then analysed in the lab, and the AMH levels are recorded. You should get your results within 2-3  days.
