Urinary‬‭ Tract Microbiome‬‭ Testing

When we think about infections, the urinary tract is a pretty common spot for them to pop up. For a long time, it was actually thought to be a completely sterile environment. But exciting new research has revealed that it’s home to a diverse community of microbes!

Advanced technology allows us to take a closer look at this microbial community. It accurately identifies the tiny organisms living in your urinary tract, providing really important insights, especially if you’re experiencing complicated urinary tract infections (UTIs). Understanding your unique urinary tract microbiome can help us uncover its role in your urinary health, explore links to recurrent or difficult-to-treat UTIs, and even guide us towards more personalised ways to improve your urinary well-being.

Uterine Microbiome Testing

Advanced technology allows us to take a closer look at this microbial community. It accurately identifies the tiny organisms living in your urinary tract, providing really important insights, especially if you’re experiencing complicated urinary tract infections (UTIs). Understanding your unique urinary tract microbiome can help us uncover its role in your urinary health, explore links to recurrent or difficult-to-treat UTIs, and even guide us towards more personalised ways to improve your urinary well-being.

Our urine PCR test is designed to provide a comprehensive look at the microbes in your urinary tract, which is especially helpful for understanding and managing complicated UTIs.

Complicated UTIs are those that occur in individuals with underlying conditions that either increase their risk of getting an infection or make it much harder to treat. The most common culprit behind complicated UTIs is Escherichia coli (E. coli).

Some Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) can actually increase your risk of developing a complicated UTI. For instance, infections like gonorrhoea or chlamydia can cause inflammation and irritation in the urinary tract, making you more susceptible to a UTI.

Fungal UTIs, while less common than bacterial ones, can occur, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems or other underlying medical conditions. The symptoms of a fungal UTI can be quite similar to those of a bacterial one, including painful urination, urgency, frequent trips to the loo, and discomfort in your abdomen or side.

By thoroughly analysing the microbes present, this test helps us pinpoint specific issues, paving the way for more targeted and effective treatment plans.
