Progesterone Test

When you’re trying to conceive, it’s helpful to understand the role of different hormones.

One key hormone is progesterone, which is produced in a woman’s ovaries. While men also produce it (where it helps with sperm production), it’s especially important for women’s reproductive health.

After you ovulate, progesterone gets to work, preparing your uterus for a fertilised egg. If a pregnancy occurs, this hormone is vital for helping you stay pregnant and is a key indicator of a healthy pregnancy.

To get the most accurate picture of your progesterone levels, we can perform a 21-day progesterone test. This simple blood test is typically done on day 21 of a 28-day cycle, as this is when levels are at their peak.

Checking your progesterone can give us valuable insights if you’re having trouble getting pregnant. It can help us understand more about your ovulation and guide any further treatments or tests that might be needed. The test is also sometimes used to help detect issues like an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage.
